Lights!! Camera !! Action!!

This seed for this project was planted by one of the girls in Ms. Brady's Fifth Class. Patricija had created animations with her father at home and brought them in to share with her class. The girls were so excited by the animations that they wanted to create their own. Patricija's father came into school to demonstrate how to make the animations. Then it was all systems go!

The children watched the original movie and took notes throughout of significant scenes that were of interest to them.
Then in groups they chose their favourite scene and created a story board to show the sequences of characters and events in the scene.
They then made their characters and props they needed from modelling clay.
Now here’s the technical bit!! The girls took a series of photographs, carefully moving their characters through their scenes. These photos were exported by the girls to Windows Movie Maker where their photos came alive. They had to change the transitions and timings between the photos to create the animations. They also searched through youtube to pick the right music to accompany their piece.

Their delight at creating a professional movie that would rival Pixar caused great excitement. This project involved a lot of problem solving which is very much a buzz word at the moment and through collaborative group work, trial and error the girls created very unique pieces of work. . .

The girls themselves have discussed what worked and what didn't quite work with their projects.
They will be posting their comments under their animations to give you an insight into the process from the producers themselves!!
Already they have seen how to progress this project even further....Patricija has shown them an animation that involved placing sound effects in their creative pieces...the girls were extremely excited by this...so even though their teacher thought she was nearing the end of the project the girls want to continue....so the creativity is growing and growing in Room 18!!!

Again this project appealed to various learning styles as it encompassed art, designing and making and ICT.

We hope you enjoy watching all of the animations!!
